Intermediate Pattern Drafting Workshop This course is aimed at those teachers who have some knowledge of pattern drafting or attended the Textiles Skills Academy 'Pattern Drafting for KS3/4 Workshop' and would like to further their knowledge and understanding of pattern drafting methods and practice. Practice using the Telestia tools and method and learn more about adapting blocks for different styles and body shapes including dresses, collars and sleeve adaptions. Create a darted bodice block and develop complete patterns for a chosen style.  Places are restricted to 10 so if you would like to go you need to book early!    What to expect on the day: Introduction:  An introduction to the day with an overview of pattern drafting in industry and different methods and systems used. A reminder of the Telestia method and tools and measuring and using these tools. Practical Session:  You will practice different methods of pattern development and produce basic darted blocks to then adapt to a first pattern. Use Industry tools and Telestia methodology to measure the body and draft a first blocks. Expand on previous knowledge and experience developing more complex patterns using darted blocks and styling references. Pull out the maths element with adding seam allowances, fabric ratings for lays and scaling. Look at iterative design approach adapting your own blocks to selected designs. Relate to design briefs to bring in correct selection and use of different fabrics appropriate for end product.    Benefits of the event: Support and ideas for delivering key maths elements through textiles. Better understanding of industry practices and requirements to support delivery of KS4/5  YOUR PRESENTERS: Alice Prier: Alice graduated from Wimbledon School of Art as a theatre designer and spent 10 years designing sets and costumes for repertory companies around the UK. In 1989 she set up her company Alice& Co creating made to measure outfits together with colour and style consultations. Her clients include top business women, City lawyers and the odd High Court judge. Alice has taught fashion and dressmaking at Vauxhall College of Further Education and recently set up pattern making courses for home sewers. Alice sees her dual roles as a pattern cutter and tutor as a great opportunity to pass on a lifetimes knowledge and now travels the country and overseas teaching and giving talks including a residency at Raystitch in Islington. Dawn Foxall: Dawn has 30 years’ experience in the textiles and garment industry including running her own design company, Cocky’s Shed, with 2 print designers; as a Design Consultant, Presenter and schools resources developer for EMTEX education projects, including founding the Designer Forum in Nottingham with Jayn Sterland; has worked as Fashion lecturer and programme developer at various UK universities and FE colleges; Course presenter for DATA, Key Stage Developments(KSD), SFE and other course providers. Dawn is a co-founder of Liv.co.uk, and Lilli Design Ltd., and continues to work as a consultant designing, buying and sourcing ethical and organic products for various brands including Lush. Dawn is currently also teaching Pattern development at Fashion Enter Ltd, London. COSTS & BOOKING VIA EVENTBRIGHT: £185/DAY + VAT All of the Textile Skills Academy events are ticket only and payable IN ADVANCE. The Textile Teachers Academy uses Eventbrite to automate the bookings via credit card and cheque/BACS.
