2017 EDUCATION DAY IS SCHEDULED FOR FRIDAY, AUGUST 25TH! AT THE CALIFORNIA ENDOWMENT CENTER  DOVIA-LA hosts an Annual Education Day, which is the premier West Coast conference for professional development in the field of volunteer engagement. Education Day is an opportunity for professional development and networking for those working with volunteers in the Greater Los Angeles area. Moving our volunteer management beyond the transactional to the transformational! Learn tangible skills to lead. What are core competencies of a leader? How do we better ourselves AND THEN focus on making our programs better. Or skill development AND volunteer management. Nia Clark, Lifeworks Mentoring Coordinator at Los Angeles LGBT Center – Presenting with Martel (below) Martel Okonji, M.A. Ex, Youth Development Supervisor at Los Angeles LGBT Center Topic: Onboarding. Setting up a structure to screen incoming volunteers to make sure you are getting the right fit for your program. We will learn tangible skills to interview potential volunteers and how to provide appropriate feedback when you need to refer them elsewhere.
